- Meet Dr. Taylor Arkema -
A dentist who listens, explains, and treats you like family.
Dr. Taylor T. Arkema is a native of Salem, Virginia. Growing up, Dr. Arkema would spend time at her grandfather and father’s orthodontic practice where she saw the positive impact that this practice had on the community and the strong, and in many cases, generational bond that her grandfather and father developed with their patients. Just like her older brother Carter (who is also a dentist in Roanoke, Virginia), this led Dr. Arkema to develop a strong passion for dentistry at an early age.
Dr. Arkema attended The University of South Carolina where she earned a B.S. in Exercise Science. After college, she attended the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine in Charleston, South Carolina where she obtained her Doctorate of Dental Medicine. Dr. Arkema has also volunteered at South Carolina’s Dental Access Day (DAD), several Mission of Mercy projects in Virginia, and has traveled to Peru to provide dental care through Dental Community Fellowship.
After graduating Dr. Arkema relocated to central Virginia, where she worked at a prominent dental office. During her time at this office, she gained valuable knowledge and experience in the areas of cutting-edge cosmetic and restorative dentistry practices and in using the advancements of digital dentistry. Dr. Arkema will bring this invaluable knowledge and experience with her to the Maidstone Family.
Outside of the practice of dentistry, Dr. Arkema loves to spend time outdoors, traveling back to Charleston, exploring new restaurants and rooting for both the Gamecocks and Hokies on gamedays in the fall. Dr. Arkema and her husband Matt, have a son, Jackson, and two mini golden doodles that bring her joy.
Dr. Arkema is very excited to build a strong and lasting relationship with each of her patients and their families and just like her father and grandfather, serve all of their dental needs for generations to come.
